Blackburn pursuit of Manchester City forward hits stumbling block

The Lancashire Telegraph reports that a Manchester City forward, who is wanted by Blackburn Rovers, has travelled to the US on a pre-season tour for the Premier League giants. Rovers boss Tony Mowbray therefore must be patient in his quest to improve his attacking options at Ewood Park.

The two clubs have a positive relationship, which is why Man City manager Pep Guardiola would be happy to allow one of his younger talents leave in search of more regular football for the upcoming campaign. However, the unidentified player in now in the States with his parent club, which means any potential transfer is not so close to materialising.

The fact that this is the case however should not necessarily be too concerning for Rovers. Guardiola is said to want all of his squad together during this stage. Even the likes of out of favour goalkeeper Joe Hart has travelled, too.

Jacob Davenport has already made the move between the two clubs in this transfer window, penning a permanent switch to Blackburn after impressing on loan at relegated Burton Albion in the Sky Bet Championship last season. Nevertheless, Mowbray will have to bide his time trying to get this deal over the line, which may rumble until much near the transfer deadline, which is just before the season commences.

Blackburn take on UEFA Champions League finalists Liverpool in their latest pre-season encounter tonight. Ryan Kent of the Anfield side is rumoured to be an intended target, but not one of their ‘main’ hopes, which is instead reserved for this mystery Manchester City talent.
