Sheffield United show interest in Liverpool youngster

Sky Bet Championship outfit Sheffield United have shown interest in Liverpool attacker Ben Woodburn, according to the Sheffield Star.

Chris Wilder is hopeful of discovering if several of his transfer targets will be available on-loan in the coming days. Following a return to training for Premier League sides, the Blades boss feels as though he should be able to pursue his targets more easily now.

Wilder has supposedly made enquiries about a number of Premier League players since the window re-opened two months ago, with Southampton striker Sam Gallagher and Liverpool youngster Woodburn being recognised as potential additions to the squad at Bramall Lane.

“Decisions are being made regarding players who have come back to their Premier League clubs,” he said. “They’ve come back and we’ve registered interest with some.”

Many people are linking the Blades to a move for Woodburn following the loss of David Brooks to Bournemouth in an £11million deal.

Teenage sensation Woodburn has made eleven senior appearances for the Reds but could leave Anfield on a temporary deal once Jurgen Klopp has finalised his first team plans.

Wilder began a makeover of the squad four weeks ago, obtaining shot-stopper Dean Henderson on-loan from Manchester United. Meanwhile, despite revealing that new faces will be joining the Blades, Wilder admitted that Ched Evans may depart Bramall Lane until Christmas.

“Ched, it’s still the plan. There’s a discussion going on with Fleetwood and us about him going there until Christmas. He needs to know and we need to know where he is going. If he doesn’t, then he’ll come back into us.”
