Which club has the best stadium has long been a topic of discussion throughout fan groups and there are often some heated conversations when debating it. Now we have the answer.
According to Talksport’s Dora Allday, Elland Road is the best Championship stadium, pipping the likes of Pride Park, Bramall Lane and the City Ground to top spot. On the other end of the spectrum, it was decided that Reading’s Madejski Stadium was the worst out of all 24 when it came to the above list.
The article explains how “transport, ticket prices, pie selection, pub geography and half-time toilet queues were taken into consideration when collating the ranking of Championship grounds.”
Allday goes on to preach about the home of Leeds United being one of the most famous grounds in football, and how it is “historic, iconic and downright intimidating for travelling teams.”
Elland Road was built in 1919 and currently holds almost 38,000 seats, making it one of the largest in the country by capacity and although within the Championship, Villa Park and Hillsborough both hold more people, the stadium of Leeds United FC makes up for it in plenty of other ways.
The stadium in Leeds even hosted a pre-World Cup friendly for England, a 2-0 win against Costa Rica, which shows that despite it currently being a second division stadium, it is still thought of very highly by the FA, with the venue being chosen to host the game ahead of some larger Premier League stadia nearby.
