Bruno Martins Indi comments on atmosphere at Stoke City

Stoke City’s Bruno Martins Indi has told the Stoke Sentinel that he can see the team spirit returning to the first team this summer.

Last year saw Stoke have one of their worst seasons in recent years. Despite plenty of high hopes going into the season, they would end up being relegated and are now back in the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in ten years. Because of this, it’s all change at Stoke this summer as Paul Lambert’s short reign as manager was ended with Gary Rowett coming from Derby County to replace him.

And the changes he has put in place are already being noted by the players. Martins Indi is not only impressed by some of the new signings that have come into the club but has said that the atmosphere is much better than it was going into the end of last season. He has said the team spirit is coming back and that will be important going into the new season.

He said: “It’s good (to see players committing to the club). I spoke to Tony (Scholes) maybe last week and I told him he’d made some great signings. That’s good. The rest of the conversation will remain between me and him!”

“Last year, of course, emotions are so high and people wanted to leave, you know, but after the summer break you see there is new spirit. You can feel it as well. People from the outside can see this new spirit and I enjoy it. It makes you feel like a footballer.”

“We have to keep this momentum.”
