Stoke City, Middlesbrough & Aston Villa keen on Premier League title winner

Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are the three favourites to sign free agent defender Robert Huth this summer on SkyBet.

The 33-year-old is in the hunt for a new club following his release from Premier League side Leicester City at the end of the season.

Huth has been training with his former club Stoke City to retain his fitness. He spent six seasons playing for the Potters from 2009 to 2015 and they are the 6/5 favourites to sign him this summer.

However, they will have to face competition from Middlesbrough and Aston Villa who are the second and third favourites to land him at 6/4 and 3/1 respectively. Derby County and Huddersfield Town then follow at 12/1 each.

Middlesbrough’s manager, Tony Pulis, knows Huth well from managing him at Stoke City. He is believed to be targeting another defender in this transfer window so could try and re-united with the German centre-back. Huth has also played for Boro in the past from 2006 to 2009.

Aston Villa are in some financial difficulties after failing to gain promotion to the Premier League last season. Therefore, they will have to sign some players on free transfers and loans to help balance the books. Huth is a decent option for them and is one who they could potentially have their eye on.

Huth is vastly experienced and has a Premier League title winners medal to his name from when he helped Leicester win it in 2016. The big defender is now looking to get back into the game in the second tier.
