Stoke City goalkeeper odds-on to stay and help promotion push

Stoke City’s Jack Butland is odds-on 8/11 to stay at the Britannia Stadium this summer on SkyBet.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper’s future with the Potters was uncertain following their relegation from the Premier League last season. However, it now appears very likely that he will remain with them next season in the Championship.

Liverpool are still the favourites to sign him at 3/1 and are followed by Chelsea, West Ham United and Wolves who are all at 12/1. Arsenal then follow at 16/1 but the bookies are now suggesting he is more likely to remain than Stoke.

The Potters’ new manager, Gary Rowett, has been busy so far this summer as he continues to look to bolster his squad to help mount a promotion push next season. He has so far lured Benik Afobe, Eghenekaro Etebo and Adam Federici to the Britannia Stadium. Rowett is now looking also looking to pursue a deal for Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie.

Joe Allen has also committed his future to Stoke and Jack Butland could follow suit. The highly-rated shot stopper joined them in 2013 for around £3.5 million from Birmingham City. He initially acted as a back-up ‘keeper and had loan spells at Birmingham City, Barnsley, Leeds United and Derby County before breaking into Stoke’s first-team.

He has now played 88 times for Stoke in the top flight and now looks ready to help them get back up there next season. Butland has recently got back from the World Cup in Russia with England and is being tipped to stay at his current club.
