Harry Wilson was turning into a transfer saga on his own. Leeds United, Stoke City, Rangers and Hull were all apparently keen on brining him to their clubs but he seems to have chosen Derby County and Frank Lampard. He was widely expected to head north of the border and link up with Steven Gerrard, development maybe the issue in that case but a few clubs will be disappointed.

Derby are going to have to use the loan market well this summer, money isn’t there to splash anymore and despite not being as bad as Aston Villa and Hull City the club aren’t in a great position. Top striker and talisman Matej Vydra was on the brink of joining Leeds United before he asked for wages that are around the £50k mark, something that Leeds have quite rightfully moved away from. Wilson is the ideal player for Lampard to work with and help develop.

He spent last season on loan at Hull, impressing and catching the eye of many clubs and this summer has turned into a battle for his signature. With Derby’s currently situation this deal is a huge positive for the club and fans and a player that will excite as well as deliver. Derby want to do more business but this news from Alan Nixon will add some quality to a squad which is still very strong at Championship level. Despite the issues Derby fans will be expecting minimum play-offs, as will the board.
