West Brom and Newcastle United go head to head for Aston Villa star

West Bromwich Albion have joined Premier League side Newcastle United in the race to sign Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah according to a report from the Birmingham Mail.

Newcastle United have reportedly been interested in Adomah for a number of weeks now, and he could be signed as a replacement for Matt Ritchie, who looks set to complete a move to Stoke City in the coming days.

Albert Adomah was Aston Villa’s player of the season last year, as the Midlands club reached the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final. Unfortunately for Villa, they were beaten by Fulham, and that has left the club in severe financial difficulties.

Because of this, Steve Bruce is preparing for the club to lose a number of their key players this summer. The Villa boss has admitted that the likes of Jack Grealish will more likely than not leave the club, and Albert Adomah could be one who follows.

West Brom’s interest in the wide man is most likely coming as Matt Phillips looks closer to securing a move away from the club.

The Baggies’ rebuild of the squad is currently underway following their relegation from the Premier League during the 2017/18 season.

Darren Moore took over towards the end of the campaign, and despite changing their fortunes slightly, he could not keep them up, and he has been tasked with the job of taking West Brom back up to the Premier League.

Players such as Kyle Bartley and Sam Johnstone have already signed, and the Baggies are showing some serious interest in players such as Britt Assombalonga.
