Could Leeds United be set to sign their new Mark Viduka?

Earlier this morning, the Yorkshire Post suggested that Leeds United have been looking at some young Premier League strikers to bolster their attacking line-up.

It’s thought that Southampton’s Sam Gallagher could be set to leave St. Mary’s this summer and Sheffield United have been linked with making a move for the striker over this summer, with Chris Wilder supposedly seeing the striker as one of his top targets.

With Leeds United looking to bring a new striker to the club during this transfer window, Gallagher could be a fantastic signing for the Whites with the striker proving his worth in the past with Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City on a loan deal.

Gallagher has been relatively prolific in the past, scoring 11 goals in 43 games for Blackburn Rovers and 6 goals in 33 games for Birmingham City. Leeds United fans would love the striker if he became anything like Mark Viduka was for Leeds United with the Australian scoring 59 goals in 130 games for Leeds.

Another key similarity between the two strikers is Viduka 6ft 2in like Gallagher and with both strikers boasting a large frame, Gallagher could really replicate Viduka’s style of play and be a huge force in the air, as well as with the ball at his feet.

In summary, Gallagher would be a fantastic signing for Leeds United, but Sheffield United are looking like the front-runners for the strikers signature.

We’ll see if Leeds choose to move for the young forward, but he’d be a great piece of business if they did.
