The transfer window is open and the new season is just around the corner. Transfers are vital and more often than not are the difference between relegation and survival. Who are the favourites for relegation to League Two?
The outright favourites for relegation are Accrington Stanley who are currently at 10/11 with the bookies. This won’t shock many people given they’ve recently lost their first choice goalkeeper, Aaron Chapman, and their star defender, Jimmy Dunne. The small size of their club won’t help them either. Everyone seems to be writing them off before a ball has been kicked. On the flip side, some think they could be a surprise package this season. The second favourites are Wycombe Wanderers who have odds of 11/8 with the bookies. Wycombe finished third in League Two which won them promotion along side Accrington Stanley who won the league title. Wycombe are a small club and one of smallest in League One so it’s no surprise they’re one of the favourites for relegation. Nobody will be shocked if they were to go down. Nobody are expecting Wycombe to put up much of a fight this season which may actually help them and allow them to go under the radar so to speak.
Finally, the third favourites are Gillingham and Walsall who are priced at 7/4 with the bookies. Both sides only just survived last season and are expected to struggle again. Neither side have really improved their squads this season which is why they are one of the favourites to go down. Both clubs will need to get their cheque books out to stand a better chance of surviving the drop this season.
