Early League Two promotion odds – Who are the favourites?

We’re well into a very exciting transfer window now and the new season is nearly upon us. Who are the favourites to win promotion to League One this season?

Last season in League Two, Accrington Stanley went up as Champions, Luton Town as runners up, Wycombe Wanderers as the third place promoted side and Coventry City as play-off winners. But what were their odds at this point last year?

Champions Accrington Stanley were way out at 16/1. Runners up Luton Town were at 6/4. Third place finishers Wycombe Wanderers were also quite far out at 14/1. Finally, play-off winners Coventry City were at 15/8.

This season, MK Dons are the outright favourites to win promotion to back to League One with odds of 13/8. MK Dons are a big club for League Two which is a big reason why they are such favourites. They also have an excellent squad for League Two so expect to see them involved in the promotion race this season.

Mansfield Town and Notts County are joint second favourites with odds of 2/1. Both of these clubs challenged for the play-offs last season and Notts County made them, finishing in 5th place. Both of these clubs are looking to improve their squads massively and are looking to push on from last season and win promotion.

Finally, third favourites are Lincoln City at odds of 9/4. Lincoln City made the play-offs just a season after they won promotion from the Conference. They have one of the strongest squads and best managers in the League and will undoubtedly be pushing for promotion once again.

The quality of League Two football is improving year on year which makes it so exciting for everyone involved. Looking at the teams involved this year, once again, we’re in for another very exciting promotion race.
