Five things to know about Hull City target Todd Kane

Hull City are set to sign Chelsea right-back Todd Kane on a free transfer, as reported by The72 earlier today. Here are five things to know about him-

1. Been on the book at Chelsea throughout his whole career- Kane joined Chelsea at the age of 7 in 2001 and progressed through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge. However, he is yet to play for their first-team.

2. Represented England- The 24-year-old has played for England’s Under-19’s 8 times and has scored once for them. He was also called up to the England Under-21’s in August 2013 by Gareth Southgate but stayed on the bench for them.

3. English loan spells- Although he has never played for Chelsea, Kane has still gained plenty of first-team action so far in his short career. He has also got plenty of Championship experience gained from loan spells at Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest in the past.

4. Spent time in the Dutch Eredivisie- Chelsea shipped Kane out on loan to Dutch side NEC Nijmegen for the 2015/16 season and he played 34 games for them in all competitions. His form for NEC earned him a loan move to FC Groningen for last season. However, after playing just 12 times for them, his loan was terminated in January and he returned to Chelsea.

5. Recent Oxford United stint- Kane joined League One side Oxford United on deadline day in the January transfer window and he spent the remainder of last season there. He played 15 games for them and scored 2 goals from right-back.
