Forgotten Charlton Athletic striker Igor Vetokele wants to stay at The Valley this season according to reports by News Shopper.
The 26-year-old Ostend-born forward last made a first team appearance for The Addicks in May 2016 as they lost 3-0 at home to Burnley in a Sky Bet Championship fixture.
The forward has since returned to his native Belgium where he has featured for both Zulte Waregem and Sint-Truiden in lengthy loan spells.
Vetokele has entered the final year of his contract with parent club Charlton Athletic and it has now been reported that the striker is planning on fighting for his place at The Valley rather than go out on loan for a third consecutive season.
The Angolan international frontman played the second half for The Addicks as they won at National League South outfit Welling on Saturday. The home side took an early lead through an Adam Coombes strike but goals from Nicky Ajose and Lyle Taylor turned the game on its head.
During his time in South East London, Vetokele has scored 13 goals in 61 appearances for Athletic. The player has struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis while out on loan with Vetokele netting just once for Zulte Waregem and 13 times for Sint-Truiden in 44 outings.
