Hull City set to snap up Chelsea defender on a free transfer

Hull City are set to sign Chelsea right-back Todd Kane, according to Football Insider.

The 24-year-old defender still has a year left on his contract with the Premier League side but is expected to have his deal terminated to allow him to join the Tigers on a free transfer.

Hull have been busy over the past week or so adding to their squad ahead of the upcoming Championship campaign. Their manager, Nigel Adkins, has delved into the transfer market to sign Eric Lichaj from Nottingham Forest, Jordy de Wijs from PSV Eindhoven, Reece Burke from West Ham United and David Milinkovic from Genoa.

The second tier side are hoping to get deals done for Sheffield United goalkeeper George Long and Sturm Graz youngster Philipp Sitssam next week. Adkins has also expressed his interest in luring Scunthorpe United left-back Conor Townsend to the KCOM Stadium.

Todd Kane is a new name to be linked with Hull. He joined Chelsea’s academy in 2001 and rose through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge. However, he is still yet to play for their first-team but has gained plenty of experience out on loan.

Kane has had stints at Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, NEC Nijmegen, FC Groningen and Oxford United so far in his career and has racked up 123 appearances all together.

He is now looking for a permanent home and it is Hull City who are looking to give him this. This is a deal that could go through next week.
