Liverpool give Derby County green light for starlet capture

According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon’s personal Twitter feed (below), and following up an earlier story in the Scottish Sun, Premier League giants Liverpool have given Derby County the green light for their pursuit of Harry Wilson.

As reported yesterday on The72, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp withdrew starlet Wilson from the Reds’ friendly game against Bury citing that a loan deal to a Championship club was beckoning for the highly regarded Liverpool winger.

What remained ambiguous was the identity of the said Championship club, although that has been revealed via The Scottish Sun article, penned by Nixon, to be Derby County. Citing the Ram’s interest, Nixon’s article said that “Frank Lampard is set to beat Steven Gerrard to the signing of Liverpool winger Harry Wilson.”

What added to the sense of a coup that Derby will be gaining is that the Nixon article also notes that they will have “beaten a dozen Championship sides” as well in landing the 21-year-old Wrexham-born Welsh international.

One bonus that youngster Wilson will bring to Pride Park is that he already has Championship experience through a half-season loan deal at Hull City last season. During his spell at the KCOM with the Tigers, Wilson snarled his way to seven goals and four assists in just 13 games. This hot streak only served to underline his promise and potential.

It is this that Derby County will likely be seeing according to Nixon who tweeted the following:

Derby County

As Nixon has pointed out here, Liverpool have apparently given Derby the final permission that they need to seal the deal for Harry Wilson. It is a tweet that also indicates that, despite the plethora of interest in the exciting winger, Liverpool have not let any other interested parties get this close to landing him.

The next few days will be interesting for Derby County fans in terms of if/when the youngster signs on for a season of Championship football with them.
