Ipswich Town boss surprised by rumours of ‘accepted’ deal for talented winger

Ipswich Town boss Paul Hurst has spoken of his surprise following rumours that he has completed a deal for winger Gwion Edwards, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

The defender, who made 26 appearances in Sky Bet League One last season for the Posh, is rumoured to be a key target for the new Blues boss this summer. However, the former Shrewsbury boss was left surprised when questioned over how he felt after Peterborough had reportedly accepted Ipswich’s offer.

Having supposedly had an offer of around £700k accepted by the London Road club, 25-year-old Edwards has told Posh that he is ready to depart for the Sky Bet Championship outfit.

“Have we? That’s news to me,” Hurst said when asked about a move for Edwards.

“I like the player but that bit’s news to me, although hopefully you’re right.”

Meanwhile, the Blues continued to be linked with a move for Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt. Although, Blues boss Hurst kept his lips pursed tightly shut when questioned about the Tangerines’ star-man.

“I think we can roll the list on and on and on. I want a centre-back but I don’t know if Curtis will be the one or not.

“I think what we appreciate is whether clubs want to sell, the prices they are going to cost, because that all goes into the equation.

“We can all be a manager and say we want this player and that player, but is it achievable? Those players (Tilt and Edwards) are good players and the kind of calibre we’re after.”
