Imminent Leeds signing to train with club Monday

According to Sky Sports Jamal Blackman will train with Leeds United on Monday with his new team-mates. The news that the deal for Blackman to join from Chelsea on loan for the season was revealed by Phil Hay yesterday and the medical is being completed today.

Leeds’ goalkeeper hunt has taken some twists and turns through the summer so far and finally it seems to be over, but is it? Will Leeds really leave Baily Peacock-Farrell to sit on the bench for a year after his brilliant progress last season? It’s a strange one for Peacock-Farrell because he really needs to be playing first-team football. Will Leeds perhaps look to bring in a number two and loan to youngster out?

Leeds originally wanted Manchester City youngster Angus Gunn but he’s moved to Southampton for a fee of £13 million. Leeds then looked at Birmingham City keeper David Stockdale. A few things fell down as Leeds looked for a loan deal. Wages the main issue, and Birmingham wouldn’t loan him, Garry Monk very vocal about players leaving on their terms.

As all this was happening Jamal Blackman was in Leeds and pictured at both Thorp Arch and Elland Road but nothing was really reported. Blackman headed back to London and began pre-season training with Chelsea as Leeds looked to agree a deal. Antonio Conte and Chelsea were trying to part ways and that complicated things massively. It now seems Leeds have their man.

The arrival of Marcelo Bielsa was to be the trigger for Leeds United’s transfer business but to say that hasn’t happened is an understatement. Lewis Baker is the only player to arrive so far, a loan from Chelsea, the same as the imminent Blackman deal.
