Derby County leading the race for highly-rated Liverpool starlet

Derby County are the “red hot” favourites to land Liverpool winger Harry Wilson, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The 21-year-old has been a man in demand after impressing on loan for Hull City in the Championship last season. He spent the latter half of the last campaign with the Tigers and scored 7 goals in 14 games for them to help keep them in the second tier.

Hull, along with the likes of Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Swansea City have been linked with the Wales international but it now appears that Derby County will be his destination.

Harry Wilson is highly-rated by Liverpool and has recently signed a new five-year-deal. They are keen for him to go out on loan for another season to gain more first-team experience and the Rams have obviously promised him this.

Derby’s new boss, Frank Lampard, is looking to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad and Harry Wilson would be a very useful signing for him. His side have also been linked with Manchester United left-back Demetri Mitchell today, he spent last season on loan in the Scottish Premier League with Hearts.

The Rams are hoping to bounce back from last seasons disappointing defeat in the Play-Offs to Fulham over two legs. It was another campaign of frustration but they are now hoping that Frank Lampard is the man to take them back up to the Premier League. The signing of Harry Wilson could help them be a force to be reckoned with in the next campaign.
