Tomorrow afternoon, League Two Bury go up against Premier League opposition in the form of Liverpool. Both clubs have
already started their pre-season’s with Liverpool getting off to a much better start than the Bury.
Bury were relegated from League One last season following a very disappointing campaign which saw them finish rock bottom in 24th place, a massive 15 points from safety. They conceded a giant 71 goals and scored just 41. With stats like this, their season was only ever going to finish one way.
Bury started their pre-season last Tuesday against Premier League Huddersfield Town. They came up against a near full strength Huddersfield Town side and were ultimately played off the park as they lost 4-0 at Gigg Lane.
Liverpool reached the UEFA Champions League final last season but lost to Real Madrid 3-1 Kiev. They finished in 4th place in the Premier League which earned them a place in next seasons UEFA Champions League. Despite finishing 4th they finished a massive 25 points behind Premier League Champions, Manchester City.
Liverpool have already played two pre-season friendlies so far this season. Their first of the two pre-season friendlies came against non-league Chester FC where they cruised to a 7-0 victory. The Red’s second game came against League Two Tranmere Rovers where they stumbled over the line to a 3-2 victory despite a Loris Karius mistake.
Bury and Liverpool have faced each other 30 times in their long histories. Liverpool have won on 13 occasions and Bury just six. They’ve been involved in a total of 11 stalemates.
