West Brom set to make approach for Newcastle United winger

West Bromwich Albion are set to make an approach for Newcastle United’s Rolando Aarons according to a report from The Mirror’s transfer news live blog.

It would be fair to see that West Brom have plenty of quality wingers on their books. The problem is that they are likely going to leave them this summer. Nacer Chadli has been linked elsewhere and those links are only going to increase following some impressive displays for Belgium in the World Cup. James McClean wants to leave and even got a fine after not showing up for a training camp with Stoke City being a likely destination. Matt Phillips has also been linked with a move elsewhere.

And with that news, West Brom are being smart and looking towards players who they can bring in as a replacement. And they are eyeing someone who has been seen as a bright prospect for a few years now. Aarons is a 22-year-old winger who has been a professional at Newcastle for four years now but while he has made a few appearances, he has struggled to break into their first team. He has also had a loan spell with Italian side Hellas Verona.

West Brom will believe this deal is likely because they think that Newcastle will sell him for the right fee considering they haven’t used him this much. And they might be able to get him for a decent fee because of it meaning that the money they get for their other wingers could be used elsewhere.
