Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri is set to complete a move to Liverpool today, according to The Mirror.
The Switzerland international has agreed personal terms and will undergo a medical on Merseyside today ahead of a £13.5 million move to the Premier League giants.
It was always likely that Shaqiri would leave Stoke City following their relegation to the Championship last season. He joined the Potters in a shock move from Inter Milan for a fee of around £12 million in August 2015. He went onto play 92 games for them in all competitions, scoring 15 goals.
Prior to moving to England, Shaqiri had enjoyed spells at FC Basel, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. During this time he won the Swiss Super League four times, the Bundesliga twice and the Champions League in 2013.
Shaqiri will be hoping to win more trophies with his move to Liverpool and provide competition for the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
For Stoke, they will now be looking for a replacement for Shaqiri. Players such as Newcastle United’s Matt Ritchie and Liverpool duo Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo have been linked so it will be interesting to see what happens.
Here is how the Potters’ fans have reacted on Twitter to Xherdan Shaqiri edging closer to a move to Liverpool-
