Departure of Antonio Conte from Chelsea could have big impact on Leeds United

Earlier today, it was confirmed that Premier League side Chelsea had parted company with their manager Antonio Conte.

The Italian had been in charge of the Stamford Bridge club for two seasons, winning the Premier League in his first season in charge.

However, they finished fifth in the 2017/18 season, missing out on a place in the Champions League and consequently costing Conte is job.

Everyone seems to know who their new manager is going to be, but Leeds United fans will be far more concerned with the impact that Conte’s departure could have on their club.

Leeds United looked set to secure the loan signing of goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, with Antonio Conte giving the move the green light.

His departure has surely thrown a spanner in the works now, as no-one knows what the new manager’s plans for Blackman will be.

Former Napoli manager Mauricio Sarri looks set to be named as the new boss at Stamford Bridge, and things are quite likely to change.

He may decide that he wants Blackman to stay around and gain experience of being in the first team at the Premier League club.

He may also decide that he is surplus to requirements, and decide to sell him permanently rather than sending him out on a loan deal.

All that Leeds United can do now is sit and wait patiently, keeping their fingers crossed that if Sarri does become the next Chelsea manager, he will not get involved in the deal involving Blackman to Leeds.
