Leeds United have been cut from 10/1 outsiders to 6/4 favorites to sign Swansea City striker Oliver McBurnie from Swansea City with SkyBet in a huge change in betting markets.

As we reported the other day, some positive news for Leeds United comes in the form of recently relegated Swansea City. According to the Derby Telegraph, Swansea City are closing in on the signing of young Swedish striker Joel Asoro from Sky Bet League One side Sunderland.

The 19-year-old is highly thought of, and the Swans look to have beaten off interest from second-tier rivals Derby County, as well as Premier League giants Arsenal.

It may seem like none of this has any connection to Leeds United but it does. The Whites have been linked with a move for Swans striker Oli McBurnie since the end of the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship season, but it seemed he was destined to remain at the Welsh club.

However, with Swansea set to announce the signing of new striker Asoro in the coming days, this could open the door for McBurnie to leave the club, and Leeds United to pounce.

McBurnie began his career at Leeds United’s West Yorkshire neighbours, Bradford City. Phil Parkinson gave the then 17-year-old his first opportunity in senior football, before he managed to get a move to then-Premier League Swansea for an undisclosed fee.

After going out on loan to Chester FC, Newport County, Bristol Rovers and Barnsley, McBurnie has gained real experience outside of the Premier League, as well as featuring for Swansea on several occasions last season.

The young striker enjoyed a very prolific time on loan at Oakwell with Barnsley, scoring nine goals in 17 appearances for the Yorkshire club, and could be set for a move back to his hometown Leeds, should the Elland Road outfit choose to make a move for him.
