Jansson, Leeds United fans react to Pontus Jansson rumours

Leeds United fans react to Pontus Jansson rumours

Earlier today, the72 reported that West Bromwich Albion were set to inflict more heartache on Leeds United fans, after they had shown an interest in signing Sweden international Pontus Jansson.

A move to the Hawthorns for Jansson could see him reunited with Kyle Bartley. The two formed a formidable partnership at the heart of Leeds United’s defence during the 2016/17 season, and many Whites supporters had called for the two to be reunited…but at Elland Road rather than West Brom!

Pontus Jansson’s future is still up in the air amidst interest from Premier League side Southampton, but the Swede promised it would all be settled once he had returned from the FIFA World Cup.

Sweden were knocked out on the Quarter-Finals by England, so we can expect Jansson’s future to be decided in the coming week.

The 27-year-old defender became a cult hero at Elland Road during his first season in Yorkshire and the Whites made his loan spell permanent last summer.

He has made 76 Sky Bet Championship appearances over his two seasons with Leeds and his performances have attracted the attention of the Baggies.

Leeds United fans are already upset at the lack of incomings so far this summer, so the departure of one of their key players will not be looked at fondly.

Here’s a look at how some of them reacted on Twitter after the rumour broke out:

This Leeds United fan acknowledges that Bartley and Jansson are the partnership of dreams, but unfortunately for him it does not look like it will be Leeds’ partnership next season.

A simple, yet effective plea from this Leeds United supporter.

I think it is fair to say that this fan would not be best pleased if Jansson was sold…

Leeds United would be “stupid” to let Pontus Jansson leave the club…
