Nottingham Forest defender set to leave for Turkey

Nottingham Forest’s Michael Mancienne could soon leave to join Turkish side Caykur Rizespor according to a report from the Nottingham Post.

Mancienne signed for Nottingham Forest back in 2014 and has been a stalwart for them in his four years at the club, making over 100 appearances for them. He also made 33 appearances last season as Forest finished up mid-table in the Sky Bet Championship. But even with that many appearances under his belt for the club, it appears that he will soon be leaving the East Midlands.

Mancienne is being linked with a move to Turkish second division side Caykur Rizespor. While reports from the country saying he has failed a medical are said to be untrue, what is true is that the two sides are in talks and this is a move that could happen in the next few days. While it isn’t the most traditional move for an English defender to make, Mancienne has already played abroad after having a stint with Hamburg between 2011 and 2014.

It is already clear that Forest are looking to sell Mancienne this summer so even if Caykur Rizespor don’t sign him, it is likely he will head elsewhere. Along with Jamie Ward, Armand Traore and Jason Cummings, he has not been included with the rest of the squad for their pre-season training camp in Spain and they have all been told they won’t be involved in the first team going into this season. And because of that, Mancienne may soon be off to Turkey.
