Sheffield United close to exciting deals for two big name strikers

Sheffield United are keen to sign forward players Sam Gallagher and Scott Hogan and according to The Star, deals for the forwards could be taking place within the next two weeks.

Sam Gallagher still has some time left on his contract with Southampton, however, having spent much of his career out on loan, this could be a perfect opportunity for the forward to secure regular first-team football with Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United during this upcoming season.

It’s questionable as to whether Gallagher is the right answer up-front for Sheffield United having netted just six times in 33 matches last year, which is a steady, but unimpressive return. However, the youngster who has gained experience in England’s U20 side may just be lacking in confidence, which could come through if he makes a permanent move to Sheffield United.

Scott Hogan could also be a viable option for the Blades for this forthcoming season. The Blades have already put in a number of bids for the Irish International, however, they are yet to secure the signing. Birmingham Live has reported that Hogan has recently been left out of Aston Villa’s training camp in the Algarve, following a groin injury.

Hogan had failed to make an impact in the 2017/18 season, following a £10 million move in the summer from Brentford. He scored just 7 times in 50 appearances for Villa last year but managed a respectable 13 goals in 18 games in the season before that at Brentford, showing that he has real promise if he can gel with Sheffield United’s current strikeforce.
