Nottingham Forest targeting £8 million Bournemouth man – The be final piece to puzzle

Nottingham Forest are a club on the up. If they can complete their business in the coming weeks then they can concentrate on what is sure to be an eventful and exciting season. Aitor Karanka has landed some quality players, and is now targeting Bournemouth again.

After bagging striker Lewis Grabban for £6 million Forest seem set to return to Bournemouth in search of a player at the other end of the park. Nottingham Post are reporting that Karanka is targeting centre-back Tyrone Mings, a deal that would surely be the icing on the cake for the Reds heading into next season. Mings, a left-back by trade who can also operate at the heart of the defence would be a shrewd addition.

Michael Dawson and Jack Robinson have already arrived to boost a backline that struggled throughout last season and Mings would certainly fit the bill of a Karanka team. The youngster cost Bournemouth £9 million just a couple of years ago but after a promising start he has suffered with injuries. Would Bournemouth sell? Even if they didn’t, a loan would suit both parties.

A central defensive partnership of Dawson and Mings in the Championship would be brilliant on paper. Dawson, a leader and not the quickest anymore would have one of the most athletic players outside of the Premier League alongside him if he did decide to drop down a league. His career has stalled due to unlucky injuries and he may see this as the perfect opportunity to get back into the swing of things.

Forest fans have every right to be excited by next season, the club are spending big and showing ambition for the first time in far too long and the supporters deserve to be expectant and ambitious. Their transfer business doesn’t seem like drying up anytime soon either.
