Could Leeds United be set to sign their most prolific striker since Jermaine Beckford?

Leeds United have been linked with a number of forwards during this transfer window, however, with less than a month until the season begins, they are yet to bring a striker in during this transfer window.

Whites fans were boosted last night by the news that the West Yorkshire club could be dealt a huge slice of luck, with Aston Villa effectively being forced to sell striker Jonathan Kodjia during this transfer window.

Kodjia boasts an impressive record since moving to England, scoring 19 goals in 49 games for Bristol City before moving to Aston Villa and scoring 20 goals in 51 games.

New Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa will like Kodjia given the fact the forward has pace, trickery and offers a constant goal scoring threat when he plays up-front.

The striker is only 28 years-old and stands just under 6ft 3in which means he offers a direct option, should Leeds United neee adopt a route one style of football late in a game.

Marcelo Bielsa does prefer to play out from the back and with his teams often getting the ball out on the wing and playing in crosses, Kodjia’s aerial presence would be an excellent addition to Leeds United’s forward line for this upcoming season.

Kodjia could offer Leeds United a similar type of style and goal scoring record that Jermaine Beckford did when he played for the West-Yorkshire club. Kodjia is confident, strong in the air, quick and most importantly knows where the net is – he could prove to be a fantastic singing if Leeds United are prepared to test Villa’s resolve, but they’ll have to do it quickly, if they want to make sure they get him and cheap.
