Bielsa, South American media links Leeds United boss with national job

South American media links Leeds United boss with national job

I know what you are thinking Leeds United fans, not again, please not again. The club finally appointed a world class manager, someone who is known worldwide, and someone who the fans feel can finally take them back to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s appointment at Elland Road was greeted with jubilation by the Leeds United faithful, and although the Argentinian manager is yet to dazzle the fans with any major signings, they remain optimistic that he is the right man for the job,

One thing they will have to learn to deal with is rumours linking Bielsa with jobs elsewhere. That is just what happens when you are such a high profile manager, and that has what has happened already with Bielsa, despite the fact that he has been at the club for less than a month.

Several South American media outlets (found via HITC) are linking Bielsa with the Peru national team job, which is set to become available in the coming weeks.

Bola VIP and Tele 13 have both stated that Marcelo Bielsa is an option amid reports that current Peru boss Ricardo Gareca is set to step down following an unsuccessful FIFA World Cup campaign.

Now, at the minute, these are just rumours, but do Leeds United fans need to be worried?

Bielsa has history of not lasting very long at the bigger clubs. He stepped down as manager of Lazio after just two days.

We all know his history with national teams, with the Argentine enjoying spells in charge of Chile, as well as his home country, so could his head be turned by Peru?
