Yesterday was an extremely disappointing day for Leeds United, as it was revealed that their pursuit of three key transfer targets had suffered a serious setback.
Whites supporters are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of transfer activity at Elland Road so far, and despite being linked with a number of high profile players, Leeds have signed just two players, and one of them is for their under 23 side.
Lewis Baker is the only newcomer to join up with the first team so far after he completed a season long loan move from Premier League side Chelsea.
One player that Leeds United fans were desperate to sign was Derby County forward Matej Vydra. The Czech Republic front man won the Sky Bet Championship golden boot in the 2017/18 season, and the Rams had placed a £10 million price tag on him.
Leeds were more than happy to pay the £10 million, but yesterday they hit a stumbling block when trying to agree personal terms with Vydra, who was demanding wages that were significantly more than Leeds United were willing to pay.
Rumours are now starting to surface about why exactly talks had broken down, as it had previously appeared that Vydra would take £30,000 which Leeds were in fact willing to pay.
However, he decided to ask for more, and that is when talks broke down. Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post has revealed a possible reason for why he demanded more all of a sudden.
heard some talk of China earlier but I really don’t know if that’s genuine

As you can see, Phil Hay stated that he had heard rumours that Vydra had been linked with a move to China, which perfectly explains why he wanted more money.
It remains clear exactly what the future holds for the Sky Bet Championship golden boot winner, but keep your eyes pealed as it will be an interesting few weeks!
