Nottingham Forest miss out on transfer target – massive loss

Nottingham Forest have missed out on former Sporting CP star Daniel Podence as he joins Olympiacos, confirmed by the club.

Aitor Karanka, Nottingham Forest boss, was believed to be keen on the exciting attacker but they have missed out as he joins Greek side Olympiacos.

I’m sure Nottingham Forest fans won’t be too disappointed considering the summer signings they’ve made which includes Benfica’s Joao Carvalho for a club-record fee of £13.2m and completed a season-long loan deal for team-mate Diogo Goncalves.

Carvalho, 21, played eight games for Benfica in 2017-18 and has signed a five-year contract at the City ground.

The loan deal for exciting winger Goncalves, also 21, includes an option to buy at the end of his loan spell.

Carvalho’s transfer fee eclipses Nottingham Forest’s previous record transfer fee, which was for striker Britt Assombalonga, who joined from Peterborough for £5.5m in August 2014.

Nottingham Forest have also signed AFC Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban for an undisclosed fee, thought to be £6m.

The 30-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with the Championship side after playing just 22 games for the Cherries following his arrival from Norwich for a second spell in January 2016.

Nottingham Forest have also completed the signing of Gil Bastiao Dias on a season-long loan from AS Monaco.

About Daniel Podence –

Last season, Podence made 20 appearances for Sporting CP, he ended the campaign with eight assists, and he would have increased that tally but a foot injury he suffered in January ruled him out for the entire second half of the season.

He had his is contract terminated on 1 June 2018, after Rui Patrício, who has recently joined Premiership side Wolves.

And now Daniel Podence has put pen to paper on a deal with Greek side Olympiacos.
