Celtic to battle Bristol City, Aston Villa and Swansea City to sign full-back

The Bristol Post has reported that Scottish Giants Celtic are to join the race to sign Yeovil Town full-back, amidst interest in the Welsh defender from Bristol City, Aston Villa and Swansea City.

The young full-back actually has one Premier League appearance under his belt, when he came on as a substitute just before injury time for Bristol City’s near rivals Cardiff City in a match against Chelsea at the end of the Welsh clubs 2013/14 season in the Premier League, however he eventually moved to Yeovil Town after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in January 2017.

The 22-year-old full-back made 51 appearances for Yeovil Town last season in a season that saw the Glovers reach the fourth round of the FA Cup and play a huge game on television against Manchester United.

The full-back spoke to Somerset Live a few months back on speculation linking him with a move away from Huish Park to several teams and said:

“It is nice to hear there’s people interested.

“There are other players with interest in them as well which shows the quality in our team.

“It’s nice to know that it’s there but I’ve said all along there’s a job to do here.

“We’ve got nine games left and we need to secure our safety so I’m not thinking about anything else.

“At the start of the season it took me a bit of time to get used to the first-team environment playing two games a week but I’m feeling fit and strong now.

“I just want to carry on the season and improve as much as I can.

“We know as footballers every game there’s people watching.

“You never know who is watching so we go into every game wanting to play as well as we can and get the win.

“I just want to play games, do well, keep improving, see whatever happens in the summer and go from there.”
