Ipswich Town reject £2.75m bid for goalkeeper

Ipswich Town have rejected an offer worth £2.75m for number one goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

The Polish shot stopper is entering into the final year of his contract at Portman Road and has been heavily linked with Birmingham City over the last few days.

Bialkowski has won the clubs Player of the Year Award for the past three seasons and now the Blues are interested in securing his services.

Garry Monk has made it clear to both David Stockdale and Tomasz Kuszczak that they both free to leave St Andrews this summer and the former Leeds boss is lining Bialkowski up as the Blues’ new number one.

The Polish keeper has been away on international duty this summer in Russia, but he didn’t make an appearance at the World Cup as he played understudy to Wojciech Szczęsny.

It is understood that new Ipswich boss Paul Hurst will start contract talks with the goalkeeper once he returns to Ipswich after his summer break.

He joined the club in 2014 from League Two club Notts County and he has gone on to make 140 appearances for the East Anglian club.

He has made six first team appearances for the Polish U21’s and one appearance for the senior side after he won his first cap this year.

Ipswich now face a dilemma, the Tractor Boys can either cash in on their star man, or keep him and risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Birmingham are reportedly at the front of the queue for the Ipswich goalkeeper, but it is evident that Paul Hurst wont sell his star man on the cheap.
