Could Jerry Mbakogu still move to Leeds United? – Feeling in Italy is “confident”

According to Gazzetta Di Modena, the local newspaper to Italian side Carpi FC, there is still positivity in Italy that a deal can be struck between Leeds United and the Italian side over the transfer of striker Jerry Mbakogu.

Although the Yorkshire Evening Post produced an article suggesting that Leeds United were no longer interested in the striker, the Italian paper has suggested a deal could still take place and the feeling around the Italian club was confident a that there could be some form of a negotiation between the two teams.

The paper seems to suggest that there is confidence a negotiation could take place as it was expected Leeds United would let the Carpi’s offer for a cheaper deal for the forward “expire” – but the fact that a deal nearly took place in January, as well as during this summer, nearly happened suggests that the club supposedly had some form of ‘verbal agreement’ with Carpi FC of some description for the forward.

The Paper seemed to suggest that also because Leeds’ chairman Andrea Radrizzani is Italian that some form a deal could still be struck between the two clubs through connections he has within Italy.

It seems unlikely Leeds will go back in for Mbakogu – but the Italian paper still seem somewhat confident a deal could take place for the striker. This seems to be more hope and speculation though than concrete information that the striker will move to Elland Road, and it appears he’s more likely to start next season in Italy, rather than England.
