According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are both thought to be keen on signing ex-Newcastle United winger Yasin Ben El-Mhanni who is currently a free agent.
The winger has reportedly attracted interest from a number of top European clubs including Benfica, Lazio, Besiktas, Wolves, Watford and Sporting Lisbon.
The winger is somewhat of an unknown entity and trialed with a number of Premier League clubs during 2015 and 2016 including the likes of Watford, Crystal Palace, and Chelsea before eventually signing for Newcastle United during July 2016.
The winger was once dubbed the “non-league Riyad Mahrez” due to his pace and trickery and after spending time with Newcastle United, he’s now on the radar of a number of top European clubs.
Given the fact that some of Europe’s top clubs are interested in the winger, it shows he has clear promise and ability and is a testament to the type of transfer business that both Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are attempting to do during this window.
Forest have already enjoyed a very busy window in which they’ve signed a number of high-profile players such as Lewis Grabban, Joao Carvalho, Costel Pantillimon and Diogo Goncalves.
Leeds United have been slower in terms of transfer business but they have been widely expected to make several signings during the coming weeks after a number of weeks of advanced talks with their rumoured transfer targets.
El-Mhanni would be a strong statement of intent if either of Leeds United or Nottingham Forest can convince him to play in the Championship, ahead of signing for one of Europe’s top sides.
