Leeds United transfer target reveals his situation

According to the Yorkshire Post, Leeds United’s transfer target David Stockdale has suggested on social media that despite the fact his current club Birmingham City are keen to offload the goalkeeper during this transfer window, he has no bad feelings towards Blues boss Garry Monk.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from St. Andrews due to the fact that he is seen as surplus to requirements and commands a relatively hefty wage, so Garry Monk has been keen to send the shot-stopper to another club.

Leeds United had supposedly enquired about a loan deal for the goalkeeper, however, it is believed that Birmingham City turned down the approach as they only want rid of Stockdale on a permanent deal, rather than a loan away from the club.

Stockdale is a Leeds fan, he was born in the city and most importantly it’s thought that the ‘keeper wants to move to Leeds and the club want him. Seems easy right?

With Leeds United supposedly investing their budget into a potential deal for a striker with Matej Vydra, Britt Assombalonga and several other big names linked with the position, this may put some red tape over a deal for Stockdale with the club likelier to make a move to sign somebody on loan.

It’s also believed that the West-Yorkshire club are keen on Chelsea’s young goalkeeper Jamal Blackman who spent last season on loan with Sheffield United.

We’ll see if Leeds United change their mind in the coming days about a move for Stockdale and if they test Birmingham’s resolve with a permanent offer, but Stockdale certainly finds himself in a unique situation.
