Matt Ritchie is a two-time Championship winner, in just three years. The Scottish international has been in fine form for a long period now and if Stoke City and Gary Rowett do land the player then it would be a huge coup for the club.

Stoke are currently preparing for a season back in the Championship and one that will be a huge test for the Premier League players who have been comfortably sitting mid-table for years before the poor season last time out that cost them their place in the worlds biggest league. The now fact a gruelling schedule in what is probably known as the toughest league to get out of in world football, barring none.

Stoke have already recruited some top players and have tied the likes of Joe Allan down to a new four-year-deal so things have started well. Peter Crouch is staying, as are many of the others and the signing of Benik Afobe mean the goals should come at this level.

Matt Ritchie is a top Championship player but in honesty he is more than that, a Premier League player comfortably. He was promoted with Bournemouth a few years back, winning the league and making his name in the English game, despite hovering around the lower leagues for a few years.

After a season in which he impressed hugely in the Premier League he decided to drop back down to help Rafa Benitez and Newcastle United back to the promised land. That is exactly what he did, he scored goals and ran riot in the league and now he looks set to do exactly the same again, but can Stoke bounce straight back up?
