Key Leeds target reveals pre-season location via tweet

When Jamal Blackman was pictured outside Elland Road and then at Thorp Arch over a week ago the Leeds United fan base were excited, a talented keeper to challenge current number one Baily Peacock-Farrell. Tonight he has tweeted and it isn’t what Leeds fans wanted to hear.

Blackman is pictured in Chelsea pre-season training and that may not mean the deal, or a deal is off but it does mean he isn’t on the brink. Leeds announced fellow Chelsea youngster Lewis Baker on a Saturday, a week later he is training in London with his club so it’s not like an announcement is all that needs to happen. The chances are if he was at both Elland Road and Thorp Arch over a week ago, he isn’t close to signing for Leeds at all, given today’s picture.

There was no links to Jamal Blackman at all before a picture revealed what seemed to be a player outside Elland Road. Hours later the identity of the player was revealed as he was pictured a couple of times at Leeds United’s training ground Thorp Arch. Social media made its decision, Blackman was as good as signing.

Blackman is an extremely talented keeper and the fact we’ve signed Lewis Baker, a player Chelsea are looking to develop probably means conversations were had about other players, even if it was brief. If we are looking to sign Blackman then things haven’t gone very well in the last seven days, not very well at all.

The keeper is also linked with Chelsea feeder club Vitesse, a club where many Chelsea players are loaned out for experience and development and one where current Leeds United player Lewis Baker really kicked on in his career. Tonight’s revelations might not be the end for Leeds and Blackman, but it doesn’t fill you with expectation.
