QPR starlet hoping to be on Eze street this season

QPR were a side limping at the end of the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship campaign, but amongst the dullness shone Ebere Eze. The question is, can he kick-on this coming season?

20-year-old Eze was brought in to the fold at Loftus Road when leaving QPR’s fellow Londoners Millwall on 3 August 2016 as an 18-year-old. Such was his promise and potential that the young striker signed a new deal at the club on January 6 2017, having scored nine goals in just 14 starts for QPR’s Elite Development Squad.

A year after arriving at QPR, Eze was loaned out to League Two side Wycombe Wanderers, signing on August 30 2017. The youngster featured 20 times for Wycombe, scoring five goals, before QPR recalled him to the fold in early January.

In the run in to QPR’s disappointing campaign, young Eze made 16 appearances scoring two goals and providing one assist. Online publication Football London say that Ebere Eze is “tipped to be one of the Championship’s hottest prospects this season.

This will no doubt gladden QPR fans’ hearts and warm their very cockles as they look to put last season’s disappointments behind them. His début start last season for QPR brought a goal against Sunderland, and he’s started the same way this pre-season.

In today’s pre-season game against League One side Charlton Athletic, Eze scored the first QPR equaliser in a highly entertaining game that ended in a 3-3 draw.

QPR fans will be hoping that Eze will be able to express himself more if given either a more prominent, or starting role at Loftus Road. Next season will be the test of that for the hot prospect attacking player.
