Norwich City only just manage to beat non-league Kings Lynn Town

Norwich City were only just able to beat non-league Kings Lynn Town as they came away with a 2-1 win in their pre-season friendly.

The Canaries want to challenge for promotion this season getting a good pre-season in would certainly help with that. But while nothing massive should be taken out of a pre-season friendly this early on, there may be some concern that it was Norwich’s youngsters which won the game for them.

In the first half Norwich struggled to break down a stern Kings Lynn defence though they did start to create some chances towards the end of the first half. They were denied when Onel Hernandez was set free in front of goal only for his shot to be saved.

For the second half, Norwich took the interesting decision for their U23 head coach Matt Gill to take charge of proceedings. And it didn’t exactly go well to begin with. Ryan Hawkins crossed the ball in and Toby Hilliard was there to tap in at the far post to give Kings Lynn a shock lead.

Throughout the second half Norwich would make substitutions and instead of disrupting their rhythm, it spurred them on to turn the game around in a two-minute barrage. First, Devonte Aransibia was able to equalise after being set free by a good ball and Adam Idah was able to get the win for Norwich who was able to smash the ball in.

Norwich’s next match will be against Lincoln City on the 10th July.
