Oldham Athletic have signed young centre-back on loan from Sheffield United

Oldham Athletic have completed the signing of Sheffield United centre-back and youngster Sam Graham, confirmed by the club website.

Oldham Athletic manager Frankie Bunn has bolstered his defence with the loan signing of Sam Graham from Sheffield United.

The centre-back Sam Graham has signed on a season-long loan from the Championship side.

The 17-year-old is a central defender who has made many appearances for Sheffield United under 23s last season. He penned a deal in March with Sheffield United that ties him to the Championship side until 2020.

He managed to gain some experience in first team football as he enjoyed a loan spell with FC Halifax Town last season and now he has made the step up to league football for the first time this season.

Bunn said: “He has pace, power and height. He is a young boy and has a willingness to learn.”

“He is a talented player and has huge potential. He is a good character, person and has excellent values.”

Earlier this week, Oldham Athletic signed Johan Branger on a one-year contract. The French-born playmaker joins Latics from Championnat National 2 side FC Dieppe.

The 24-year-old netted 11 goals in 26 games last season for FC Dieppe and he has also featured for Gabon in 2012 against South Africa.

Johan Branger came through the youth ranks at French side Auxerre before having spells with US Raon-l’Étape and FC Sens.

The midfielder said: “I’m happy to be part of the Oldham Athletic family and can’t wait to challenge myself in England.”
