Foderingham, Ipswich Town monitoring Rangers goalkeeper

Ipswich Town monitoring Rangers goalkeeper

Ipswich Town are interested in signing former Swindon Town goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, according to the East Anglian Times.

Paul Hurst is on the lookout for a potential replacement for Polish shot stopper Bartosz Bialkowski and has identified Foderingham as one of his top targets.

The goalkeeper has spent three years at Ibrox, accumulating 106 appearances for the Gers.

He joined the club after his contract at Swindon Town had expired and he was made available for a free transfer.

He has established himself as the clubs first choice keeper, but that could all change next season.

New Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has already signed former Hull goalkeeper Alan McGregor ahead of the new season and wants Jak Alnwick as his number two.

This would leave Foderingham as the clubs third choice goalkeeper and would see the former Swindon man play hardly any first team football.

Current Ipswich number one Bialkowski has been away on International duty with Poland and he is entering in to the final year of his contract at Portman Road.

He is yet to sign a new deal with the Tractor Boys and Paul Hurst is understandably looking at replacements, should his star man leave.

It is understood, however, that Ipswich will only make a move for Foderingham if they are forced to sell Bialkowski.

Aston Villa are also thought to be interested in making a move for the Rangers goalkeeper after losing Sam Johnstone.

The former Manchester United man spent two years on loan at Villa Park but has joined West Brom on a permanent deal this summer.

Foderingham is a man interesting Ipswich Town, an it is likely that he would welcome a move back to England in order to play first team football.
