“I’d love to stay longer!” – Sheffield United striker wants extended stay at Bramall Lane

Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp has admitted that he cannot see himself playing for another English club other than the Blades.

The former Leeds forward has said that he wants to keep playing for Chris Wilder’s side and would love the chance to stay at Bramall Lane for the foreseeable future.

Sharp scored 14 goals, as well as registering 4 assists, for the Blades last season as the club narrowly missed out on a playoff place.

He was the clubs second top scorer, just behind Leon Clarke who notched 17 goals for United.

The 32 year old now only has 12 months remaining on his current contract, but he has admitted that he wants to stay at his boyhood club for longer.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, he said: “I still know I can score goals in the Championship. I want to keep doing it for this club for as long as I can.

“I’ve got a year left (under contract) and I want to stay longer if I can, I’d love to stay longer.

“I want to keep playing for Sheffield United as long as possible. I can’t see myself playing for another club in England.”

Sharp came through the ranks at Bramall Lane as a youngster, but he only accumulated two appearances during his first season with the club.

Since his return in 2015, Sharp has scored 64 goals in 124 appearances for the Championship club.

He is a firm fan favourite with the Blades contingent and despite coming towards the latter stages of his career, his goals would be hard to replace for Christ Wilder.
