Opinion: Five strikers Coventry City should sign to replace Marc McNulty

Coventry City striker Marc McNulty is set to join Championship side Reading, as reported by The72 earlier. Here are five strikers they should sign to replace him-

Mohamed Eisa, Cheltenham Town- The 23-year-old would be an ideal replacement for McNulty for the Sky Blues. He bagged 23 goals last season in his first season in the Football League after joining Cheltenham from non-league side Greenwich Borough last summer. Eisa looks like a real talent and ready for the step up to League One.

Connor Chaplin, Portsmouth- He is highly-rated by Pompey and looks to have a big future ahead of him in the game. The 21-year-old has played over 121 games for the Fratton Park club but is not guaranteed first-team minutes every single week. Coventry could offer him this now McNulty is leaving and this could urn Chaplin’s head.

Caolan Lavery, Sheffield United- The Canadian-born striker could become available this summer having fallen down the pecking order with the Blades. He spent the latter part of last season on loan at Rotherham United and helped them gain promotion to the Championship. Lavery has also had spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth in the past.

Tom Elliott, Millwall- The 27-year-old is not a first-team regular for Millwall in the Championship and would be decent for Coventry. He has previously played for Leeds United, Hamilton, Stockport County, Cambridge United and AFC Wimbledon and has managed 59 career goals to date.

Christian Doidge, Forest Green- He was prolific for Forest Green in League Two last season and scored 20 league goals for them. Doidge was real handful for defences and would offer Coventry something different going forward.
