We reported earlier that the Hartlepool Mail has suggested that both Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City are interested in signing Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalonga during this transfer window as the striker looks for a move away from the Riverside after a falling-out with Boro boss Tony Pulis.
The 108-goal striker has been incredibly prolific throughout his career and is reportedly looking to continue his career away from the Riverside as he has fallen out of favour under Pulis who has played Patrick Bamford more often than the Congolese striker.
Assombalonga moved to Middlesbrough from Nottingham Forest and could be set to make a move back to his former employers if Aitor Karanka is prepared to splash some more cash to land the forward.
Nottingham Forest have been battling with Birmingham City over the past few days to secure the signature of AFC Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban with Forest seemingly coming out on top with the £6m rated forward having a medical at the City Ground today.
Here are the best reactions on Twitter from both sets of fans being linked with the forward:
We are NOT after Britt. Why would want another striker, we’ve signed Soudani and signing Grabban today. #nffc

If we could get Britt back for a bargain fee we’d be mad not to. I’d still think he was a snake. But he’d be a snake bagging 20 goals a season for us so who cares. ♂ #NFFC

If Forest got Britt back I’d cry. He’s bag 20 plus this season with this team. Unlike Lansbury, he genuinely left to get out of the unhealthy club, ran by Fawaz. Times have changed and I’d happily have him back. #NFFC

As exciting as it must be for Forest fans, surely they have a worry in the back of their mind. Shelling out hit transfer fees, coupled with big wages, Grabban deal is four years on £35k+, Asombalonga links too. Their income can be no bigger than #BCFC The same outcome as #avfc ?
