Opinion: Five strikers Sheffield Wednesday should sign to replace Jordan Rhodes

Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes is closing in on a move to fellow Championship side Norwich City, as reported by The72 earlier today. Here are five players the Owls should sign to replace him-

Tom Bradshaw, Barnsley- The Wales international could be available for transfer after Barnsley’s relegation to League One last season. He has a decent goal scoring record in the Championship having bagged a combined 20 goals in the past two seasons.

David McGoldrick- The experienced striker is a free agent after leaving Ipswich Town and is weighing up his options. There is interest in him from Aston Villa, West Brom and Bristol City. He has played for Sheffield Wednesday before and is an option for them.

Jordan Hugill, West Ham United- His £10 million move to West Ham in January from Preston North End has not worked out and they are looking to offload him this summer. Hugill, who is proven in the Championship, would be a perfect replacement for Jordan Rhodes at Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Ward, Cardiff City- His first-team opportunities at Cardiff could be in doubt now after their promotion to the Premier League. He played 20 games for them last season, scoring 4 goals. Ward would offer the Owls another option in attack and more squad depth.

Lee Gregory, Millwall- The 29-year-old has played for Millwall since 2014 and has shown he is a handful to Championship defences. He is an option who the Owls could explore as he would offer them another dimension in attack. He was also born in Sheffield.
