Derby County sign exciting Premier League youngster

Derby County have signed winger Aaron Eyoma from Arsenal, beating opposition for the signature of the youngster.

Aaron Eyoma joins Derby County after impressing on trial at the end of the 2017/18 season. Eyoma also had a trial with Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers, but he chose to move to Pride Park instead.

The youngster impressed for Arsenal’s U23 side last season, playing 15 and assisting 5. Eyoma is an exciting, creative winger with bags of pace, and is likely to spend the season with Derby’s U23 side under manager Mick Halsall.

Eyoma is a versatile player, and can play on the left and right wing. Eyoma has also filled in at right-back when needed, and has even played up front on occasions.

The 20 year-old said on the club website: “I came here knowing that Derby was a big Championship club that was renowned for played attractive football, similar to what I had been used to at Arsenal. That was a big appeal for me”.

Eyoma was also attracted to Derby because of the opportunities youth players have been presented in the last few years. Jamie Hanson, Mason Bennett, Max Lowe and Luke Thomas have all been given first team opportunities in recent years, and Eyoma hopes to get opportunities too.

Eyoma added, “Darren (Wassall) has spoken to me a lot since I have been here and told me there will be opportunities to be around the first team and train with them if I knuckle down and work hard.”

“I spoke to the boss as well and he has given me a few words of wisdom and pretty much echoed what Darren said – if I do well, there will be an opportunity for me to get involved.”

Eyoma may not be the most talked about transfer business going on at Pride Park, as Matej Vydra is constantly linked with moves away. But, the Rams’ academy has produced some exciting youngsters recently, and Eyoma could prove to be a shrewd bit of business. The combination of hard work, determination and exciting talent could prove to be the making of a future first team player.
