Opinion: Nottingham Forest aren’t promotion hopefuls, they are title contenders

Before every season fans, pundits, players and everybody associated with the world of football tries their hand at predicting the outcome of what a league table will look like at the end of each season.

Nottingham Forest are a club who have become accustomed to looking beneath them, rather than above them in recent seasons and it’s been a tough few years for Forest fans who have suffered mid-table mediocrity rather than high-flying hope.

This season marks change though and it seems from the clubs transfer business under the management of high profile boss Aitor Karanka, Forest can look towards the bright lights of the Premier League, rather than over their shoulder at a desperate relegation scrap.

The Reds have invested in some high profile talent with the help of super agent Jorge Mendes, bringing the likes of Joao Carvalho, Diogo Goncalves and Gil Dias to the City Ground this season. Additionally though, Forest have been savvy when shopping for domestic talent with the likes of Jack Robinson, Michael Dawson and soon-to-be striker (subject to a medical) Lewis Grabban all joining up with the club this summer.

Forest seem to have got things very much right off the pitch and obviously, the talking will come on it during the course of the upcoming season, but its clear to see that the club are determined to aim for the dizzy heights of the top-flight, rather than languish in the middle of the Championship for another season.

Forest look to mean business, there is a real buzz around the club with record season ticket sales and there is a real desire for transfer targets to come and play under Aitor Karanka.

Nottingham Forest aren’t just promotion hopefuls anymore, they are title contenders and a force to be reckoned with for this upcoming season.
