Leeds United target drops huge hint that he will stay at current club

Oli McBurnie has dropped a huge hint that he will stay at current club Swansea City this summer despite interest from Leeds United and Scottish Premier League side Rangers.

McBurnie impressed on loan at Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley last season, but was unable to prevent them from suffering relegation.

However, his performances at the Tykes were enough to attract the attention of a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs.

Swansea City’s relegation from the Premier League was the first spanner in the works for Leeds United, who showed a real interest in him back in June.

Today, there has been an even bigger hurdle thrown in the way for Leeds, with Oli McBurnie confirming he is looking forward to the start of the new season…with current club Swansea City.

Speaking about Graham Potter, the new manager at the Liberty Stadium, to the club’s official website, the Swansea striker said: “We got on really well. We spoke about his plans for me this season and for the team this season and I am looking forward to it.”

“I hope there will be more opportunities for me this year. I had a little taste here and there under different managers last season.I think it was definitely the right time for me to go out on loan and get some consistent first-team football under my belt, but now I am fighting to impress the new manager here and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

This latest news provides another stumbling block for Leeds United, who are coming to terms with the fact that long term target Abel Hernandez is edging closer to a move to Russian side CSKA Moscow.
