Stoke City set to offer £20k pay-rise per week to current player and £4m a year to Prem winger

The Northern Echo have reported that Stoke City are prepared to offer goalkeeper Jack Butland a pay-rise of £20,000 per week to convince the goalkeeper not to move to Chelsea and are also prepared to offer Newcastle United midfielder Matt Ritchie £75,000 a week to move to the Potters.

Stoke City seem to be incredibly keen on winning promotion back into the Premier League at the very first attempt and look as if they are prepared to spend big doing so by convincing goalkeeper Jack Butland to stick with the club in the Championship despite reported interest from a  number of Premier League clubs.

Offering Butland an extra £20,000 per week would work out at £1.04 million extra per year on the 25-year-old’s contract although this may not be enough to fend off Premier League interest for the goalkeeper who could want to play in the Premier League to strengthen his chances of taking England’s number one goalkeeping spot from Jordan Pickford.

Additionally, as we reported earlier and the Northern Echo also report, Stoke City are prepared to offer Newcastle United’s Matt Ritchie around £4m a year in wages to move away from St. James’ Park.

The winger was influential in Newcastle United’s success last season and it’s thought that Stoke City see Ritchie as a player who can help them get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking and are prepared to offer the midfielder a substantial wage packet if he is prepared to drop a division to play for Stoke City.
